Ah, politics. Elections. Stress. Maybe everyone should take it down a notch. Think of your blood pressure! In light of this coming year, we thought about high blood pressure.
Once you have high blood pressure, or hypertension, there’s no turning back, it’s a lifelong disease. HOWEVER, you can control blood pressure. Controlling your blood pressure lowers your risk of diseases such as heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease.
- Increasing or incorporating regular physical activity.
- Quitting smoking.
- Hot tubs are fine, so long as you don’t combine it with alcohol. (Maybe those two go hand in hand for you. )
- Be aware of cold and flu medications, decongestants may raise blood pressure.
- Take any blood pressure medications regularly.
