I live in a fairly safe neighborhood. I lock my doors at
night. I even know a few self defense moves.
Nonetheless, every day, night, week, and month of my life, I’m vulnerable. I could
walk around fine and lively for years and decades, then one day, without warning,
fall victim to the silent killer… Osteoporosis.
Yep. Osteoporosis aka “The Silent Disease”.
However the best news is osteoporosis is preventable and the best time to prevent is when you’re young, because bones absorb calcium and build strong bones in ways you can’t once you’re older. In addition, there are 5 steps to optimize bone health and help osteoporosis.
*Calcium is the building block of bones and you need vitamin D to absorb calcium. If you’re ages 19-49 you need about 1,000 mg a day. Calcium is found in dairy products, calcium enriched products, and in broccoli, leafy green vegetables, and almonds. Vitamin D is found in milk, liver, fatty fish, egg yolks, and the sun.
