Are you trying to get pregnant but having trouble? Before spending all your money on expensive fertility drugs and fancy schmancy technology, try taking Dr. Sarah L. Berga's advise - relaaaaax. In the New York Times article, 'A Low-Tech Approach to Fertility: Just Relax,' Dr. Berga outlines how 'chronic stress may keep some women from ovulating and how relaxation techniques may help.' (NYT) The good doctor acknowledges the effectiveness of fertility drugs. But for women whose hormone levels may be affected by stress, in vitro fertilization may be of little help. For those women, she prescribes cognitive behavioral therapy to target underlying emotional issues that may be at root.
So how will you know if you're relaxed? Well, you'll probably think of more endearing nicknames for your boyfriend than Pizza Face. And you'll probably remember to laugh at his jokes.
