CNN's recent article, "Five Diagnoses That Call For A Second Opinion," outlines five diagnoses that call for a second opinion. If you've recently been told you need either a heart bypass surgery, hysterectomy,
pregnancy termination for fetal abnormality, surgery for varicose veins, or treatments for brain tumors, it's time to ignore your doctor and listen to the next one. Or perhaps listen halfway to both or take a mean average of the two, (i.e. surgery for an abnormal vericose-baby).
New York Cardiologist, Dr. Richard Stein explains, "anytime you're considering a procedure that has a risk of dying, stroke and severe infection, you should get a second opinion."
You should also consider eating more bran flakes, taking long walks by the beach (preferably not with someone you just met through the personals) and TiVo-ing The Office. But that's just my opinion.
Dr. Stein practices cardiology in several locations around New York City. His clinical interests include Non-invasive Cardiology: Preventive Cardiology, Exercise; Nuclear Cardiology; Echocardiology.
